How can i straight away give a user a high level members badge without them having to write loads of posts?

No way yet. wpForo user reputation is only based on number of posts yet. This is under improvement, we have lots of things to do and add in future releases.

Hi Robert, just wondering if this has been changed yet? Is it possible to award admin badges yet?
