Hi Support,

When I search for a phrase, wpforo displays a list with results.

This list includes some large posts in full content (e.g. 30+ rows) and other -also large posts- in 5 truncated rows only !?!

1.- What's the rationale for this behaviour?

2.- How can I limit (truncate) contents being displayed to 5 rows only, always?

Thanks

Hi @jorgew,

This is designed t work this way. There is no option to limit the content which is being displayed.

I'll ask developers if there is an easy solution I can post for you.

Hi @sofy,

This is designed t work this way. There is no option to limit the content which is being displayed.

But the fact is that some are being limited/truncated:

And...

So, what would be the answer to my first question:

1.- What's the rationale for this behavior?

Thanks.

Hi @jorgew,

please follow the steps to change the limit number you've mentioned:

1. Please read the doc for wpForo customization:

https://wpforo.com/docs/root/forum-themes/theme-customization/

2. In search.php file located in wp-content/plugins/wpforo/wpf-themes/classic/ folder find the following line:

$body_len = 564;

and change the 564 as you like.

Dear @dlinstedt,

I respectfully request to only show "titles of topics and replies" in accordance with the security policies I have set for each forum.  If they have Read Only access, then titles only display, if they have Read/Write, then show the smushed text, if they have No Access, then please hide these results appropriately from the search results.

I don't follow you well. If the topic is private the result is not found any way for usergroup members who don't have permissions to see it.

@sofy,

Thanks for the hint.

I defined it to include 350 ch. and it seems to work, but not always.

When I search for "Washington" the displayed found post (#796) does include only 350 ch. (I hope, I didn't really count them).

But if I search for "lorem ipsum" then the same post displays now its full content.

Hi @sofy,

Unfortunately I can't do that. It is an organization's private forum and I'm not allowed to let not-members in.

If you tell me what you need to check, maybe we can work it out.

No problem @jorgew,

We'll continue to test this on our test websites. I'll update this topic once I get news for you.

@Sofy

Did you see my other post / response about this issue?  I sent screen shots about the read/write read/only settings.

Thanks,

Dan
