I need some way to give my users in forum notifications when a thread they are following is commented, or if the get a like on a post and things like this.

WPforo still doesn't have a feature for this as far as I am aware, and I was wondering if it was possible?

I tried using BB press before, or maybe buddypress, and the profile pages changed, and I didnt like it that way, WPforo profile page is nicer I think..... anyway

Im looking for a bar, in my menu, that will display notification for a user, any one able to offer any advice on how to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help, i appreciate it

Hi @percysgrowroom,

As we've already mentioned in this forum, the feature is in our to-do list. It'll be implemented in near future updates.

Awesome, so should I continue to wait, or should I install something else in the meantime... if there is something else?

I don't mean to sound harsh, so please don't read me wrong, but:

I have seen posts across the forum from a couple of years ago asking for notifications. It has been mentioned many times, I know you guys are working on it, but is there any idea at all of how long it will be before it can be added?

Is there another way to add notification using a different add on until you guys have the notifications add on sorted here? I've been telling my users its been coming for a while now, as I read here " its coming in future updates".

Its taking a while, and it's something my forum needs. When I saw the new update for Wpforo, I was excited, thinking this could be it, and it wasn't 🙁 Its a bit disappointing.

Until we can have notifications, any forum built on Wpforo is at a disadvantage i feel. Its something that really holds this awesome software back.

So, when will the wpforo updates be coming, or is there another feature i can use to get them?

Thanks for your time Sofy

As you said, for the past two years people have been asking for live notification and complained about the missing roadmap - any serious company has one. For two years, they respond with the copy / paste "it's on our to-do list, next version etc." and do not care at all about the concept of a roadmap. Draw your own conclusions.

Sad really, but i agree, I dont think this is ever coming either 🙁 Which is a shame because wpforo is good software, but without out notifications itll never compete with the best forums

Any forum on tapa l**o

I like wpforo, its an easy ish forum to room, with minimal issues. But for users, and members of sites, everyone wants live notifications.

Forums on phpbb have notifications, forums on vbulletin do to.

You might like the software Massimo, but you cant deny that notifications would make the site a lot better for the members?

And, lets not forget, it was said to be coming 2 YEARS AGO.

Ok, i was asking for a Wordpress forum.

Anyways, I like wpForo, i have my own problems with it, still notifications is something we do not miss.

I don't think the members of these forums care if its on wordpress or not, that point is irrelevant I think mate.

Like you, I also enjoy Wpforo, but it does have some issues, and it has something's missing. It's not perfect,  but it's still better than most. But notification for the users will take it to a new level imo.

Most people can get along fine without it, some people need it, you have to be able to provide a range of options to your users, and not having notications does deter some people from using the site. I have emails form those people asking for notifications.

All i'm tryint to say is that those standalone forums have been there for 2 decades and they are not limited by Wordpress limitations.

members don't look at it that way though 🙂 A member wont be like " ill stick with this forum because its on wordpress" it will be more like " This forum is available on tapa talk and has notifications, so im sticking with that" regardless of what they are built on.

Still, epic software, i love it, it has some awesome features, but it could still do with some extra bits
