Hello, how do I lock down the WordPress admin console on my forum to prevent users from being able to publish blog posts? Apparently, when a user creates an account or resets their password they see an option to write a new blog post in the left-hand menu of the WordPress admin. This appears to be a permission role. Everyone creating new accounts is being setup as an "Author". Is there a way to change roles for existing and future accounts that are created without breaking anything? Thanks!

Here is a screenshot of the Users section with various roles (e.g., Subscriber, Author, etc.). What should all users be set to aside from the "Administrator"? How do you do this automatically?

Should people be contributors, subscribers, or authors?

The WordPress default role is subscriber.
