I'm trying to figure out how to make sure every page people see while posting to my forum have the same header, footer, and sidebar. Some of the pages seem to be generated by WPForo and therefore don't have the same content as the ones I built. Obviously I'm missing something.

Is this the place to start reading?

https://wpforo.com/docs/root/getting-started/forum-page/

Or is there another resource that would help me understand this better?

Thank you!

Hi @davidbrown,

The whole your forum is loaded in one page. All wpForo forums and topics and other forum pages are loaded in one forum home page. So, if you design the forum home page, you're read for all other forum pages too. The main and the only forum page is the home page, just click the top admin bar [Edit Page] button and edit the page. The content of this page should be just [wpforo] shortcode.

Thanks Robert.

The permalink for my forum page is set to https://www.aroundwoodstockvermont.com/community-forums but the page actually goes to https://www.aroundwoodstockvermont.com/518-2/community-forums/ . See the attached image.

I don't know where that URL came from.

If I paste https://www.aroundwoodstockvermont.com/community-forums in my browser, I see the forum, but with no header & sidebar.

Huh?

@davidbrown,

1. Go to Dashboard > Pages, delete all trashed pages, make sure the Trashed is empty,

2. In the same page, search for [wpforo] phrase and find all pages. Delete all and only keep the one which has /community-forums/ slug.

3. Make sure the main page doesn't have parent page, it should be the parent page not a child page.

4. If you have a redirection plugin, make sure it doesn't do wrong redirections.

I understood you to say that my forum page design (header and sidebar) would be maintained when a visitor selects one of my forums. I was surprised to hear this so I set up a test page.

https://www.aroundwoodstockvermont.com/forum-test/

As you can see, the header and sidebar are lost when you select one of the forums.

How can I fix this?

Thank you!
