A few questions:
1. Can I set WpForo to send out ALL new forum posts to registered forum members at their email accounts?
2. Will WpForo accept replies back in, post in the forums, and then email out to everyone else (or, if need be, everyone) the email/post just received?
3, Can I set the forums so the menu option to even see they exist only applies to registered users I have approved?
4. Is there any way to set the security settings so that "Members" option in the forms does NOT display the list of every member of our site to anyone who wanders in?
Basically, the only people who should have access to the forums area is a handful of academics working on projects together, and the rest of the world does not even need to know that it exists.

No yet. They must subscribe to all forums separately.
2. Will WpForo accept replies back in, post in the forums, and then email out to everyone else (or, if need be, everyone) the email/post just received?
If user is subscribed, he/she will get email notification once new topic/post/reply is posted.

Just edit Guest Usergroup and set all necessary permissions.

Final hurdles, is it possible to set up the plugin so:
1. It emails out the entire message to people who have subscribed to a forum?
2. They can simply reply to that email message, and their reply is posted in the forums?

No. wpForo is a Wordpress plugin, this is not a email transferring server to perform such functions.
Just edit Guest Usergroup and set all necessary permissions.
Hi, while researching this very question I came across the above. Where do I find the Guest User Group. I do not have this listed in Forum Settings/Forum Accesses. Thank you.
