Hello,

I have noticed users come on my forum and they add their links on the about me section and those links are dofollow. I need to remove the linking function for the about me section. Please let me know the code and where to add it.

Previously you guys helped me to remove the website section from the profile page but I forgot about the about me section's linking feature.

Also how can I remove the signature section and how do I remove the source code options from the about me section?

@hbk747 ,

wpForo doesn't allow new registered users to edit their profile and add links in About and Signature sections. It seems you've set "0" all Antispam options. So please go to wpForo > Settings > Spam Protection admin page and increase the min values of all options you need:

You can also can control users permissions in wpForo > Usergroups admin page, just edit the non-admin usergroups and uncheck the permissions you want.

Thank you but lets assume I allow the profile to be edited after a while (lets say 4 posts), then the user can add dofollow links using about me, website, and signature sections after they have posted a few times. How can I remove the insert/edit link feature. For example I can add a link by clicking the insert/edit link option in this text editor and add a link like this

I am sure there is code that can just remove that linking feature from the about me and signature text editor.

I would like to remove the insert/edit link feature from the text editors of posts as well. So if someone wants to post a link, they can just type abc.com and it stays unlinked since there is no linking feature. Right now I have

This looks ugly and the user could get annoyed that they posted a link (since it could be non-spam) so I just want to take away the linking feature for good.

@hbk747,

User must have 4 approved posts to be able add that links. If you approve the user then you trust this user is not spam. You can disable them to edit their profile or hide the About/Signature fields but you cannot control links in that fields.

Also, you can disable Google to index user profiles so the content of user profiles will not affect your SEO. The option to stop indexing user profiles is located in wpForo > wpForo SEO admin page.

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion. I already have user profiles deactivated on the forum.

Let me explain my issue: I am running a blog and a forum on the same domain. The blog requires a lot of external links and I keep those external links on dofollow using wp external links plugin. The forum/wpforo on the other hand I want to keep as nofollow. If I am not mistaken, wpforo has a default setting of setting external links as nofollow which is great. However, recently I was checking and some links on the forums topics and the profile are not showing the nofollow tag - i.e they are dofollow. I mentioned this in another topic here. The person helping told me to ask wp external links but the plugin support didn't have any real solution.

So basically I just want on my forum for all links except my domain to be nofollow. On my blog, they can be dofollow. This was working before but now some links on the forum are dofollow which is very weird because now I have to check all the links manually. That is why I was asking if there is a way to remove the linking all together on wpforo.

Please help me.
