Do we have an answer for this? Having member's usernames being posted in replies through their nicknames is a real security issue. Anyone have a solution for this?

@aggieat,

All users can change own Nicknames in My Profile > Account page. More info about nickname I provided here: https://wpforo.com/community/how-to-and-troubleshooting-2/how-to-avoid-identical-user-names/#post-17315

@robert

Need to check something....

Ok, so my problem is that for some reason the change your password field in the Accounts Page is a required field and so even though I thought I was saving my changes, they were rejected becasue I had not changed my password. Once I changed my password, the changes were accepted. Very weird that that field is required.

But, thanks for the information robert...

Ok, so I think I know what the problem is. I noticed the same issue was here on this forum, so I went to my Profile page here and saw that while the field is required, it only requires you to enter your current password (which makes sense to change data on your account) and the OPTION of changing your password.

While on our version of WPForo it is not an option, you must enter your current password and you must change your password in order for the changes to take. (see pic)

This issue is already reported and fixed in next 1.7.1 version. We're releasing the update in a few days.
