Spam control features are still limited in WPForo, I would like to see the following:
1-) Limit the amount of posts per minute a person can make.
2-) Automatic ways to prevent spam/double posting so that a person or spam bot cannot post the same exact message over and over again throughout the forum.
3-) Limit a first time user ability to post more than one post when she/he is under moderation, the person would need to wait until after his/her first post is removed from moderation in order to be able to post more topics.
Currently I don't see a way to do any of this, if I'm mistaken someone please enlighten me 🙂
There is no way to do that currently.
Best thing to do is to stop bots and spam at REGISTRATION. After entering the site it is harder and needs human attention and work.

We do that, we required clicking on the link to activate registration, we use captcha, we keep first posters under moderation till approved etc. so we kind of have it under control, however the limits above are present in most modern form software and should be implemented here as soon as possible.
For instance people sometimes double post by mistake when they press "Submit" several times and WPForo has no defense against that, you get all 5 or 6 posts for as many times the person kept clicking.
Also in forums with not enough staff you have a problem when you open your forum and must clean all the spam posts, sometimes in the order of 30 to 50, these are under moderation and cannot be seen at this point by regular users, still this should be prevented by WPForo spam features.

I see. Nothing currently can limit posters from double posts.
BUT for spammers and bots, all captchas do not work well for me and makes life hard for users.
What works is The Shield plugin. Keeps all bots and spammers out. Takes care of blog post comments also. And you have a basic firewall also.
Our captchas are invisible so they don't bother real users, I tried The Shield plugin in the past, but I remember having to remove it because it caused some issues, it was like a year ago and I can't remember at the moment what it was, maybe I'll give it another try sometime.
However I still strongly believe these features should be built into WPForo and some like the post limiting should def be there implemented and protecting by default.
