I get many sign ups per day that are just signing up to create a profile and stuff it with spam links.
Most are not posting stuff, they are just signing up to get the profile page
any suggestions on how to stop this

Well login and registrations are Wordpress handled.
If they are bots there are plenty of plugins for protection. If they are human it is more difficult, but again there are several plugins for that.
Do you have ANY security plugin for your site?
Yeah i have akismet enabled, but when real users are posting profiles that is difficult.
i have disabled guests from viewing profiles which will at least stop the search engines and anyone else seeing unless they are logged in, i think this will be enough for the moment
Akismet if for spam, do you have ANY security plugin, login protection, bot protection, or something like that?
but how is that going to stop a real human spammer from creating a profile?
