Hi to you,
So, I've tested the wpForo for few weeks, I'm happy with the results and I think that I'm ready to go live now.
I've purchased a new domain and hosting for the next 3 years and I want to re-install on it my blog and wpForo.
Here is my question -
I need that the at the top will be the blog and the forum will an extension of it.
Should I create a sub domain for the forum or to dedicate a page within the blog to be the forum?
I think that both options are fine, but I want to do it right thing from beginning (from scratch).
As far as navigation I need it to be as easy as possible to go in/out to/from the blog/forum.
I'll be using the same theme for the blog and the forum.
So, what advice do you have for me?
Thanks,
I don't think it's a good idea to have a subdomain for forum. subDomain requirs separate WP installation or at least separate subSite (WPMU) with separate user authorization/theme/style/etc.. settings. Forum should be a page in website to get the best back-end and front-end integration.
Thank you Martin,
My concern was based on the fact the the forum's users are stored in the global users base of WordPress and not in a separate table.
I may have other users in WP for other purposes and they will be mixed. Yes, I could use or create groups.
[off topic - do you have a future plane to have a separate users table for the forum?]
Thank you
If you have separate user tables, the same user should login twice. The Blog commenter and forum poster must be two separate users. No one want to register twice in order to post topic in forum and comment under Blog post on the same website.
I'm sorry but not. We'll never add separate table for users. wpForo is a WordPress plugin, this is the main advantage of wpForo over all other Sande-Alone forum softwares which tries to work with WordPress using bridges (single authorization solution).
Thank you,
You've convinced me. I'll install the blog and add the forum.
