Has this gotten any more consideration, image embedding seems like it would be a bigger priority.

The image embed can be enabled using a small code mentioned here:

For advanced file attachment options I recommend wpForo Advanced Attachment addon. Please check it here: https://gvectors.com/product/wpforo-advanced-attachments/

I saw that, but it is not nearly the same or as user friendly as a dedicate upload and embed icon in the WYSIWYG. Users simply cannot be expected to upload images as an attachment, save post then go in and edit post and place URL of the uploaded image. Most of my users barely know how to access their email.

Even stack overflow, which you guys are emulating, has a picture icon on the editor that opens a simple drag and drop picture upload dialog.

Please read this post again, it extends the simple file uploading function. it detects if a file is an image it displays it as an image, not as a simple attached file. So you upload an image and you see that image. You don't need to use URL:

Still not very user friendly, relies on a filter to do the work after the fact and assuming that the user will know that will happen to their attachment, additionally this forces all image attachments to show in the post even if a user does not want it.

You guys mentioned elsewhere that a image insert function was coming to wpforo, I'm guessing that has been abandoned?

I'm sorry but I have no other option for you. You should use either:

1. URL embedding option

2. The default file attachment option (with image embed code)

3. The Advanced Attachment addon with user specific media library, players and slider.

There is no other options and there is no any other plans yet.

So I guess this:  https://wpforo.com/community/how-to-and-troubleshooting-2/inserting-image-button/#post-121 is abandoned?

I'm sorry but the answer is yes. After the Image embedding code and the  Advanced Attachment addon development there were no more request for this button. The file attachment button does the same and it's very simple to use, even if it's little bit not user friendly.

Robert, I included the code you provided and images show just fine on my forum, thanks for that. I however see some posts on this forum that have an image attachment but no image shows (see "capture.png"), have you not implemented the code on your forum?

Also I have installed the "Responsive Lightbox & Gallery" plugin which is set to show all images on my site in a lightbox however when I click on images on my wpforo forum it opens in a new window rather than a lightbox. Any idea what could be the issue?
