1. Yes, the comments section is visible when I remove the shortcode. When I put the shortcode the section disappears.

2. Yes, I am able to see the comments left on the post in the dashboard when the shortcode is there or is not there.

 

It seems as though the forum being present is what is removing the comments section.

Hi @theo,

I'm sorry, but this is designed to work this way. As this is a forum page by default the commenting is disabled. We'll add a new option that will allow you to display both forum and comments in near future releases.
