1.Open the /wp-content/plugins/wpforo/wpf-themes/classic/layouts/4/forum.php file
2. Find the following code:

The GreenApple.md hierarchy is set up as Category -> Forum -> Subforum -> Topic (so just one category for the entire site, divided into 7 main forums, and then subforums underneath each forum).
The URL for the top of our discussion board is greenapple.md/community/ and then for the main forums, greenapple.md/community/product-reviews/, greenapple.md/community/pets-cannabis/ , ...etc. Last bit of info before the question, our sub-forums don't keep their parent forum in the url, example in the pet forum for cats, greenapple.md/community/cats/
The question is, how can I add content to the top of each different Forum and Subforum, describing in more detail what each is about? I see how I can add it to /community and every page is the same, but how do I modify the top part of pages like community/cats?

wpForo + Cache is ready!
The last 1.2.0 version was the spam killer version. And this 1.3.0 version is designed to increase wpForo performance and make it super fast. Now wpForo can be used for forums with extremely large databases.
wpForo 1.3.0 with built-in Cache System
You don't even need to use other cache plugins for wpForo. wpForo builtin cache system is based on three different logics of caching, which procures high performance and super low SQLs started from second load of each forum page:
Object Cache (caches items and objects, decreases number of SQLs)
Memory Cache (keeps in memory and prevents process/query duplication)
HTML Cache (smart and intuitive HTML cache of forum pages)
You can enable/disable them in Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Features admin page:
It creates /cache/ folder for cache files in /wp-content/uploads/wpforo/ directory.
You can delete all caches in Dashboard > Forums > Dashboard admin page.
wpForo 2 step installation
wpForo creates user profiles based on WordPress users on activation process. It may take dozens of minutes if you got thousands of users. We made this process as a second separate step of plugin installation, this prevents plugin activation issues. Now, if you have more than 100 users you'll be prompted with a message-box in dashboard to continue installation and create forum users profile:

So glad to have found this plugin. Was looking for a wordpress forum, read the reviews, chose this one and so glad I did. Simple, elegant, practical, great community and it works! And yes, I will be writing a review.
It has been very simple to set up and the documentation has been excellent. However, I have run into one problem that I can't figure out. I have searched the forums and failed to find an answer. It may be that my theme and system are different somehow. Anyway, the top menu background color on installation was a very dark gray. The text color of the top menu is a deep blue that is very tough to see on the dark gray background. I found that color #3 is the color for the top menu background so I changed it to a lighter color and it solved the problem....but it also changed the color of the post text and so now with the top menu background being a very light gray, the post text is also a light gray and has little contrast and is basically invisible! I am sure there must be a way to change the background color of the top menu without changing the text color but I can't figure it out. Any help would be most appreciated.

Today i did some tests with caching plugins, wpForo and also wpForo internal caching (3 options).
The tests were done using several tools but i will post some that you can also try yourself easily.
At you can test for free 25 virtual users against your forums and with registration you can do more (registration is free from what i see).
My tests were done on a high quality shared hosting plan (semi-dedi with limited # of sites) under Litespeed webserver and cloud linux (cloud linux auto limits you when you exceed usage of cpu etc etc but doesn't shut you down). PHP 7.3 and MariaDB. My plan has 1 giga of ram, 25 entry processes limit and 1 cpu, 50mb/s IO usage and 500 IOPS.
Also an optimizing plugin was used (fast velocity) but with wpForo assets excluded.
My test website is a low traffic, with low topics but with several plugins and ads from external sources. I was not able to remove the external ads, since it was a huge job (not a disable/enable a plugin).
I will post below my (interesting) findings and please comment only if you know what you are talking about. Try not to spoil this topic with OT.
I would very much be interested by gvectors comments also. Maybe they can interprete better the results in the charts.

Hi! Thanks for the reply! 🙂
It should not be a memory problem; we have a VPS Cloud dedicated to our website with 8 GB of ram, and 512 MB of memory allocated to WP, which have never given us problems to execute any process. That is, it cannot be a problem with a server with low memory 🙂
My question is, if it can happen on any website, including servers with low memory, wouldn't it be good to have a maintenance option for force that action for all users? Or be able to select that value in the wpForo options? I don't think the best solution is to edit the functions.php file, since with each theme update this archive is updated, and it isn't a good idea to have to remember change this every time. Think that it can be happening to many websites with wpForo, without knowing what is happening to them. |

See the attached screenshot. Sometimes they were showing. Other times such as now, they disappeared. When users come to the forum, they can't see where they can register or login unless they click on "Forum" on the top bar. Then the url becomes This is not our homepage url

We've enabled the top admin bar for Editor and Author user roles too. This change may require one more time updating the top admin bar settings.

wpForo has an options for the top admin bar. Just navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Features Tab and make make sure it's disabled for members, scroll down and click on [Update Options] button. Then delete website cache and check it. |

You can add /%wpforo-recent%/ to your wpForo menu easily enough - and name the menu item whatever you like.
If you are adept at file edits you can also add it to the forum feed div ribbon in /wpforo/wpf-themes/2022/forum.php. Something along lines replacing the code below <div class="wpforo-feed"> (approx Line 5 to Line 14) with

Forgive me if this has come up before, we are relatively new to WPForo. The forum application we had before had a link in the top menus called "Activity" which went directly to the recent posts. In WPForo the only way to get to recent activity is that link at the bottom of the page. It would be very useful to also have that link at the top.
I will add a redirect for my users so when they log in they will be redirected to the recent posts page, but many of my users never log out. So it would be useful to have that feature readily available at the top.
Also, semi-related, it would be nice to have a 'jump to top' feature at the bottom of the page for long topics with many posts so users didn't have to manually scroll up.
