Any chance we will be able to put shortcodes from other pluggins into posts? Like you can with page posts?

Yes, it was implanted in 1.4.6. You just need to enable according option in Forums > Settings > Features admin page. The option name is "Enable WordPress Shortcodes in Post Content".
