On our current site using Kunena, we have it set so that all users are notified via email when a new reply is posted to a discussion, with the post author also receiving their message.

While testing wpForo, it seems that everyone except the post author gets the email. Is there an option in settings to include the post author?

A side question as well, is this a standard practice?

Thanks!
Kat

Hi @knguyen,

Could you please clarify what you mean by "Post Author"? If the current user is posting a reply, why should he/she receive a notification about his/her own reply? What is the reasoning behind this?

That is what I meant - that the current user posting a reply would receive a notification about his/her own reply. What we're currently using now allows this, and our users have expressed that they appreciate receiving their own reply as a confirmation. This may be specific to our set of users, so I am just wondering if this was possible in wpForo.

wpForo has a built-in Subscription Manager tool that makes a subscription easy. It can be found in the My Profile > Subscriptions page. So, the users can easily subscribe to the topics and receive email notifications.

Another two options to make topic subscription easy (NOT RECOMMENDED):

Hi @sofy

Thank you for responding, but I think there is a misunderstanding. When a user posts a reply, we want the user to receive an email notification of their reply as well. From my testing the forum, it seems like the plugin excludes the author of the reply from this notification. Is there an easy way to fix this?

Thanks,
Kathy

@knguyen

We're really sorry, wpForo doesn't have such a feature.

I recommend purchasing pro support and reaching out to the support team for customizations: https://wpforo.com/pro-support/#customization
