I prefer GeneratePress ( https://generatepress.com/) because it is built for speed. But I've also found that wpForo works great with JumpStart ( https://wpjumpstart.com/)
I haven't found yet any better/free and responsive theme, that works with anything.
Hi there, sorry to piggy back on this question, but I saw your suggestion for JustWrite and I really like the theme. However I can't seem to make it functional with wpforo. Do you have any suggestions? (I'm assuming you're using wpforo with jw since you suggested it.)

I have ZERO problems with Justwrite and wpForo. Actually Justwrite works with everything so far. Never found a so flexible and responsive theme for WP (free).
I use it in two sites, check them out and tell me what your problem is (in a NEW topic).
