I still confused about your answer anyway.
So if i understand right there is a dropdown with a language selector that can only be english and if i want to translate the phrase in French, i have to translate phrase while the english dropdown is selected ?
Btw i did read the doc before posting here.

the forum is standard english and you can translate this english to french
it makes no sense "french" dropdown or do you want to translate french to french?
so click on an english phrase you want to translate and translate it to french, that's all you need to do 😉

I though that dropdown menu was to allow multi language forum depending on the user preference.
