Thanks for your reply. The (spam) settings for minimum number of posts etc. are all set to 0 because the forums are private (all members get access only after approval of Forum Admin).

It has something to do with wpForo access rights, because the Forum Admin can upload attachements in the forum without any problem (after uploading topic attachment it is added to WP Media Library successfully), but if wpForo Admin tries to upload a Forum Cover image he gets wpForo message (not allowed to upload files).

@mhit ,
It's already fixed. You will receive the fix in the new version of wpForo.

Hi, I just installed the new wpForo version 2.2.1 but the problem with uploading forum cover image ("no permission to upload files") still exists.

I have cleaned all caches and logged out / logged in.

The Forum Admin (wp user role is "subscriber") is unable to upload Forum Cover or choose a forum cover file from media library. However he can succesfully attach images to forum topics so there seems to be no problem with access rights for forum attachments. Only uploading forum cover or choosing a forum cover image causes error message for access rights.

(Forum Admin usergroup also has all 'can' options tagged).

The Forum Admin (wp user role is "subscriber")

What user role is assigned to your ordinary registered members?

@verek WP user role of ordinary registered members is Subscriber.

I suggest that you are wasting your time trying to have a WPforo admin with only a subscriber role. You are at risk of making all your ordinary/subscriber members board admins by granting the subscriber group too many permissions.

@verek I'm sorry but I don't follow you.

To me, WordPress Admin user role and wpForo Admin usergroup should have totally separated tasks, otherwise, a wpForo Admin with WordPress Admin userrole would have all WP Admin rights which is a big risk for the entire website and forum.

A Forum Administrator is totally different from a WordPress Admin...
I could live with it, if a Forum Admin needs a WordPress Contributor userrole, or if there is no other option, even author or editor, but preferably not (and certainly not WordPress Admin).

(To clarify: We don't use the wpForo userrole synchronization option)

Sorry in case of any misunderstanding.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for your reply. I already updated to 2.2.1 but the problem still exists (see my previous message). Category cover image cannot be uploaded or selected, unless the Forum Admin has  the WP user role Administrator or Editor.

@mhit,

I'm really sorry but we cannot synch "Admin" and "Moderator" usergroups to the lowest User role "subscriber". There are lots of limitation in the core that stops such a low level user to accesses to such an important management pages. So this is something impossible. You cannot allow subscribers to fully manage forums.

@robert
Many thanks for your clarification. I understand this is complicated concerning security and access rights between wpForo and the WordPress CMS.

However I'm glad that the WordPress Author user role is sufficient now for uploading / selecting a cover image for Forum Categories. I can go on with this for now. Thanks a lot.
