Hi all,

Finally, after much trial and error, I finally decided to ask for advice...

I have an existing forum on my website. Access is protected by a username and password (registered user group).
My goal: I would like to add a new forum, giving only a select group of registered users access to the new forum. The new forum is unreadable for unselected registered users.
So far, I've created a new forum (new board), added the URL to the menu, and created a secondary user group.
After reading articles and answers on questions from Robert and Chris on the wpforo community, I've tried all sorts of combinations with accesses, user groups, and permissions, without success.

I'm at a loss. Is my goal even possible ?

Thank you for your help.

Roelof

Hi,

You don’t need to create a separate Board. Here’s how you can achieve this:

  1. Create a new forum — for example, “Members Only”.

  2. Create a new usergroup, e.g., “Super Usergroup”, and configure its permissions as needed.

  3. Create a new forum access role for this usergroup, e.g., “Super Access”, and set the permissions as you like.

  4. Go to the edit screen of the “Members Only” forum and assign “No Access” to all usergroups except for “Super Usergroup”, which should have “Super Access”

  5. Ensure the users who need access are assigned to the “Super Usergroup”.

Please also read this FAQ carefully for more context:  https://wpforo.com/community/faq/wordpress-user-roles-wpforo-usergroups-and-forum-accesses/#post-39664

Hi Sofy,

Thank you for your help. I'am happy to read that I can realise my goal.

It shows a different, and probably the only, way to achieve my goal.

I'll study this and let you know about my progress.

Again, thank you.

Regards, Roelof
