After running with no problems since I installed it several weeks ago, wpForo has basically stopped working. It's not possible to create new topics, reply to posts or use private messenger. At first I had some functionality when I switched browsers from Firefox to Microsoft Edge. Edge now doesn't work either, and I am being told that Chrome has similar problems. Whenever I try to do anything, I get a white screen with the message:

The requested URL was rejected. If you think this is an error, please contact the webmaster.

Your support ID is: 15718313434588679696

(That support ID changes each time, of course)

Using Safari on my iPhone, private messaging sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Creating a new topic doesn't work at all.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions about what is causing it. My forum is basically shut down and people are going to just give up if I don't fix it soon.

I don't think it's a Wordpress problem as the rest of the site is working fine.

This is not related to wpForo for sure. You should not search solution in wpForo. This is other plugin issue or hosting service issue. Try to remember what have you installed or updated recently. Deactivate all plugins. Delete all caches, then press Ctrl+F5 twice on forum front-end to reset browser cache.

I have not installed or changed anything for weeks, and this only started a couple of days ago. So, it's not that.

I've contacted the hosting service and they are looking into it. If I do all those things that you mention, will I lose any posts or other information on the forum? Will I then be able to reactivate the plug-ins? Apart from Akismet, the only plug-ins I have are yours - Embed and Private Messaging.

@gav the ID you posted looks like a cloudflare message. Can you send an actual screenshot of the message you see so this can be validated ? If you do use cloudflare, try disabling it to see if they resolves the issue .

I've attached a screenshot. I don't use Cloudflare. I had to google it to see what it is 🤔 So I don't think it can be that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hmm. That message is indicative of a block of some sort. Have you checked to see if the ISP you are using has any security features enabled that could be causing this ?

Also try regenerating your permalink settings to reset .htaccess file. To do that, head over to Settings -> Permalinks section, then select the option "postname" and save the changes.

Finally, a long shot, but ensure that CURL is enabled for PHP in your settings.

No. I don't know how to do that. The rest of the site is working fine. People can leave comments on the blog page of the main site. It's only the forum that is having problems.

Thanks. At the moment, I'm chatting with the host. Will let everyone know if I get it resolved. I'm pretty sure it's them because another site I have with them is also affected. I can't edit pages.

The site I'm talking about here is http://songwriterjunction.com/

Checking your site IP, doesn't look nice. This IP is shared of cource and nothing wrong with YOUR site, still not good.

I will not post here what comes first when you google the IP. You should check it.

I would say you use a questionable hosting company.

What IP should I be googling, Massimo?

@gav the IP address you are sharing with several others has been involved in nefarious activities - see https://www.threatminer.org/host.php?q=64.29.151.221

If I were you, I'd change host as this is going to cause you serious issues and will prevent traffic arriving at your site - which you are already experiencing - and Google will penalise you for it.

Thanks @anonymous3542. The host is one that I have used for about 15 years, Aplus (Aplus.net), now part of Deluxe For Business. By coincidence, my package for renewal of the 6 websites I have for them is up for renewal today! I am on the phone trying to cancel, hoping I'll have enough time to transfer all the websites.

I think this is the right direction @gav. One website harbouring malicious content is bad enough, but there are several, and have been there since 2016. Which country to you prefer for hosting? Inocul8r.net uses a mixture of Cloudflare (for security and performance) and at the back end leverages stablepoint as the ISP.

Have a look - https://stablepoint.com/?utm_medium=company_profile&utm_source=trustpilot&utm_campaign=logo_click

Easily the fastest ISP I've seen so far, and very reasonable rates. I personally have the enterprise plan which isn't listed here as I was a previous client of SpeedyDot before they rebranded and changed their packages.

Do you have a CPANEL ?

Then if you have Cpanel, it is SO EASY. A full PLAN Backup, download it locally and send it to your new hosting provider with Cpanel or manually transfer one-by-one if you have time and know how.

Be sure everything is in the archive. And the archive is correct and not faulty/damaged.

You could do the following. Update/renew your account with the existing company for a MONTH only. And during that time, move files/dbs. And them move the domain dns also.

@anonymous3542 Stablepoint certainly gets great reviews. Are they purely Wordpress or can I host other sites there too.

@Anonymous20 I'm not sure if my existing host has Cpanel. Do I need to have it there or at the new host? I have canceled my account and have a ten day grace period to move everything.

@gav you can host anything you want there. They have optimised services for WordPress, but that doesn't mean you can't host others.

@gav are you located in Europe or US ?

How do you manage your sites ? How many sites are those ?

I ask for CPanel because if you do have that, it is SO easy.

@gav if you are interested, I have a referral link I can provide, but not sure if I'm allowed to do this here @robert ?

@anonymous3542 I just finished chatting with Seb at Stablepoint. Is cloud hosting an advantage? I presume that just means that they don't have their own servers?

@Anonymous20 I am in the US. I have 6 sites, of which 4 are Wordpress.

@gav definitely, yes. It will allow you to autoscale without issue, and without constraint. It's important to note that Stablepoint leverage some of the best architecture out there. Seb is one of the top technical resources at Stablepoint. Sal is the CEO. Stablepoint have consistently out-performed most of the "leaders" in this field. Have a look at my own site if you want an idea of the speed.

Stablepoint has wordwide hosting plans, so location isn't an issue - they typically serve 80 countries presently.

@anonymous3542 I am happy to use your referral link if it puts a $ or two in your pocket.

@gav that's not what I meant or intended. The referral link from me allows you to save, not the other way round. The incentive for me is minor and I'd need several referrals to make enough for a coffee. For me, the reward comes from being able to help someone else out of a hole.

Just thought I'd stop by here to say thanks for the recommendation. Stablepoint were outstanding during the transfer of my websites. Way above expectations. I didn't see your reply in time to take advantage of your link LOL, but the pricing is good anyway. Thanks again.

Deleting the cache should not affect your data. It's just cache. You can always reactivate any plugin, it doesn't have any affection to cache.

Thanks. I tried that. Deactivated all plug-ins except wpForo itself, cleared all caches, did the Ctrl +F5 thing. It didn't solve the problem. I guess I have to hope that the hosting service is able to fix it.
