Hi,

I have had this problem a few times now and can't see how to fix it.

A member is added to my site and given the correct tags to access the forum by Convert Kit and Access Ally.

95% of the time this works fine.

Then - randomly - there will be a member who cannot see the forum link in the menu bar (it is hidden, even though I didn't set it up that way) and who gets redirected to the sign up page if they click a direct link from an email.

They have EXACTLY the same user settings, tags and access as others who can happily surf and post. I have triple-checked this in the Wordpress user system.

Any idea why? I've just added a lot of new members for a GDPR webinar I'm running and am getting complaints.

Thanks,

Clare

I'm sorry but I didn't understand what is this.

Hi,

Please ignore the Convert Kit and Access Ally bit.

What is important is:

  • People have been correctly registered by the system to have Wordpress membership and access to the WP Foro forum - I have checked their permissions in the WP user directory.
  • They can't see it, even if they are logged in.
  • Their permissions are identical to people who CAN see it.
  • This appears to be random.
  • I am getting complaints!

How do I fix this, please?

Thanks,

Clare

It seems you use a registration form based on other plugins. Don't you use wpForo or Wordpress registration forms? Where we can see your website registration form? please leave some URL.

In the meantime, call this URL in your dashboard to sync users  (don't forget to change the example.com with your domain):

example.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpforo-community&action=synch

Hi,

The registration is done by Access Ally, triggered by Convert Kit, and that is working fine.

The members with forum access issues look identical inside Wordpress to those without problems. They all show as having the correct level of access within WP Foro to be able to see the forum, once logged in.

An example of a page that creates a user is here: https://www.5minute.biz/overwhelm/

I know that both types of users are being set up correctly.

Some can see the forums, others can't. And it seems to be random.

I have no idea how to fix this and the 'gentle' complaints I was getting earlier in the week have turned into shouting.

Please help.

Thanks,

Clare

Hi,

I have an update from an affected user. After a week of trying everything from resetting his password to changing his forum username and still not being able to see the forums, when logged in and with the correct user permissions, he registered for my free programme again, which created a new account for him and everything works fine.

From the Wordpress user setup, both users are identical.

I'm getting really cross emails from members now.

Is there a way to get faster support on this? I'm a paid user of nearly all of your upgrade plugins.

I'm on day 5 of this problem now and we've made no progress towards fixing it.

Best wishes,

Clare
