I received a request from a user to see if we could add a feature regarding notifications - would that be possible?
"A way to temporarily pause all notifications emails would be great. For example, when we are away on holiday, getting bombarded with dozens of emails isn't helpful, but I don't want to have to unsubscribe from dozens of individual threads either.
Any chance of a master setting to enable/disable all notifications in one place? Even better would be a pause for selected time period (e.g, pause for two weeks) or pause until a selected date (e.g, pause until 31/10/25)."
Hey marsm! That’s actually a really solid suggestion — a “pause all notifications” feature would be super handy for users who go on breaks or vacations. Right now most forum platforms only let you unsubscribe thread by thread or mute categories, but having a global “snooze” or “pause until date” option would make life a lot easier.
If your system supports user preferences in the notification module, it should be doable to add a simple flag like notifications_paused_until in the user settings. The notification system could check that before sending any emails. Even a manual “pause/unpause” toggle in profile settings would work as a first step.
Might be worth logging this as a feature request with your devs — I bet plenty of users would love that kind of control.
