Using the latest version (1.7.1), classic theme with simplified layout, with UserPro for site registrations. Autoptimise is disabled, no other cache plugins. WPforo all cache cleared.
When a new topic is created the "forum contains new posts" is not displayed. No new topic or post title is in bold text. "Latest post" in the footer is updated.
Clicking the "unread posts" link will show the new topic or post, even if i was the one that made the post. If i read the post, it will still show up when the "unread posts" link is clicked, no matter how many times i read it. The only way to stop seeing read posts is to click "Mark all read" in the footer.
Only been using WPfor for 4 weeks, pretty sure this behaviour is not new.

You've disabled the "View Logging" so the Read/Unread doesn't work. Please navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Features admin page and enable "Log Viewed Forums and Topics" option.
