I have pro support and am waiting to hear from them on a possible solution. Meanwhile, I thought I would throw this out there for some of you advanced programmers. I think this feature should be standard in the next wpforo update. The only problem is I need it now 😀

Please see the attached Image.

I want a list at the top of the member search that gives users the option of what type of group they want to search and view. They can then drill down by entering their local zip code (they could also search by county or state).

The end result would be that a member could select what group to search for and then drill down by entering a zip code or county to search.

e.g If a member selected retailers and then put their zip code in. it would show all participating retailers on our platform that are in their immediate area, in their local zip code

The button search that you see currently is member types. This does not do the trick. It does not work. If it was member Groups instead, this search would be quite amazing.

Do any of you program gurus have the answer with specific instructions on how to do this?

It is very appreciated.

Thank you

Most of that functionality can be found in the (premium) User Custom Fields plugin

I have purchased that add-on, and I do not find those options anywhere that I can see.

As I stated, I have pro tech support also, and I have been waiting to hear from them. I think this is going to be some special code. We will see.

Hi @danno6116

I think the problem lies in the member type, which consists of several words
For example: Member-Make a Difference
Try: Organization, that should work
Zip Code and County Code should also work, even in combination with Organization

@tutrix You are right, they all work except Member-Make a Difference

How do I fix that?

The whole idea is to have members pick a member type such as an organization and then use the zip or county to see what exists localy. Basically drilling down

Hi @tutrix

Update:

I removed the "member type" off my member search and now have member groups with a drop-down menu instead. The problem is that not all member groups are showing in the drop-down menu. I have checked everything and cannot find the issue.

I have user groups called Organization, Gate-Keeper, Retailer, etc., that don't show up in the drop-down menu. I'm scratching my head; I don't get it.

The two groups that are showing are working great! can be used with zip and county. one of those working iis Member-Make a Difference, I changed that name to M.A.D. Member. By the way M.A.D stands for "Make a Difference" as original name stated.

Another question: should I have WP user roles synced or not synced?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
