Ok got some odd results to do with moderated users / posts.

So new users on our site are required to have their posts moderated until they have been approved and can be seen as non spammers basically.

This works ok as in moderation works as expected.

But we have come across an issue we didn't expect, if a post is awaiting moderation, other users who require moderation can not see the post / topic it 404's if you go to the URL.

However standard users who are now approved to post without having their posts moderated can see unapproved posts / topics.

We would like to resolve this but are not sure if this is just a setting (I had a look but couldn't see anything obvious) or if this is a bug.

Can someone please let me know which it is, thanks!

other users who require moderation

Hi @sc89me, please explain what does this mean? Users are not required for moderation. Only posts are required for moderation.

Also, please note that users can always see their own posts, even if the posts are under the moderation.

So new users need to have their posts moderated.

Users who need to have their posts moderated can not see other posts that need to be moderated (posts awaiting moderation).

Users who no longer need to have their posts moderated (bog standard users not admins or mods) can see the posts that the new users have made which are awaiting moderation.

Surely "Mr Standard User" should not be able to see posts awaiting moderation? Only admins or mods should see them?

Is this a setting or a bug?

All users can see all posts which are not under moderation. It doesn't matter the user has a post under moderation or not.

No, it's incorrect. Nobody can see the posts which are under moderation. Only the post owner and moderators.

There is no such problem in wpForo. If your users see posts under the moderation then you've done some incorrect configuration of usergroups and forum accesses. OR You have a cache plugin and you've not excluded wpForo pages from your cache plugin, please find your cache plugin here and configure it for wpForo: https://wpforo.com/community/faq/wpforo-and-cache-plugins/#post-37150

Sorry for the slow reply here.

So that first bit not sure I have made it clear,

Users who need to have their posts moderated can not see other posts that need to be moderated

What I meant by this is, if a new user has not had their posts moderated before they can't see other users making posts which also need to be moderated, what I meant is this is what I would expect from all users regardless of if they need to have their posts moderated or not, a user who no longer requires their posts to be moderated can see unapproved posts which shouldn't be the case.

I have confirmed we already excluded things from cache.

The settings must be at play but I have no idea what would be the settings which affect this, can you give me any insight with those?

I attached the 2 user groups settings, "moderation" is the group which should have their posts moderated, the registered group can see unapproved posts but shouldn't and they don't need to have their posts approved but can reply to unapproved posts when they shouldn't see them.

I can see Subscriber only has a "read" capability nothing else.
