I'm having a problem with repeatedly having to moderate a new user's posts. In the Anti-Spam section of Tools, I have the following settings.

User is New (under hard spam control) during first 1 posts

Posts must be manually approved YES

Min number of posts to be able attach files 3

Min number of posts to be able post links 1

I approved his first post, and assumed that that would mean that he could now post without the need for moderation. However, both his next two posts have been flagged for moderation. Am I doing something wrong? I admit that I find this section of the WPForo dashboard confusing, and there is no documentation covering it.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I got an email asking me to moderate his first post. When I looked for it under Moderation, it wasn't there. A couple of hours later I got the same email, and this time it was there. This first post was also a new topic rather than a response to an existing one, if that makes any difference.

Hi @gav,

I'm sorry but I'd not be able to explain the whole spam controlling mechanism.

Not all topics and posts become Unapproved. Only spam suspected entries are going for moderation. Spam suspicion level can be decreased in Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Antispam admin page to something like this:

  • Spam Suspicion Level for Topics: 30
  • Spam Suspicion Level for Posts: 40

Here is an article on "How to Disable Topics and Posts Moderation in wpForo", please check it out.

What I don't understand is why this only happens to the folks who have just joined in the last couple of weeks. It didn't happen with new members earlier. IT's just happened again with another new member. Is there some reason that their suspected spam level would be higher?
