Hi,

We have a small group of members using the forum and would like to notify all of them each time a new topic is added. What would be the best way going about this?

I've been told that an admin note might be a good way to alert members to subscribe. But I thought there might be a way to get members to subscribe to an Announcements Forum where all new topics are added. Is it possible to have a topic display in the Announcements Forum as well as the actual forum category where it belongs?

Thank you in advance,

Dirk

Hi @dirkm,

Yes, the admin note might be very useful in such cases. It allows you to display the note for certain Usergroups and forum pages. The "Admin message on forum front page" textarea can be found on Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Misc admin page.

Don't follow you well. Do you mean a sticky topic feature? If you set the topic sticky it'll always be listed on top of the topic list.

Thank you for the reply. The answer on the admin note makes sense.

About the second bit, I thought it might work if a member subscribes to the Announcements Forum, but then a new topic has to be added there instead of another more appropriate forum category. The question was if a topic can be added to more than one forum category? I suppose not as it doesn't really makes sense.

Ideally I'd like to notify all members when a new topic is added to the forum (irrespective of the category where it's added) but the GDPR regulations don't allow that. What would you suggest? Zapier integration with a third party app that sends out a notification to all members?

Thanks!

@dirkm,

wpForo has three types of subscriptions in wpForo:

  • Subscribe to Forum (get notified about all topics and posts)
  • Subscribe to Individual Forum (get notified about new topics in this forum)
  • Subscribe to Individual Topic (get notified about all replies in this topic)

Please read this doc: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/topics-posts/forum-topic-subsciption/

Besides, you can use the Subscription Manager feature, it makes subscription feature many times easier.

Important: make sure the Subscription Confirmation is disabled.

More info here: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/wpforo-settings/features/#double-opt-in

Hi Sofy,

Where do I find the Subscription Manager? I read through the documentation and looked for it on our forum (logged in as admin) but couldn't find it.

Thanks

Don't you see it on the Subscriptions subPage of My Profile? Are you sure the Subscription Confirmation is disabled?

Where do I disable the Subscription Confirmation? It might be that, but I looked for it and couldn't find it either.

The option is located in the Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Features Tab.
