Hello,

I got the parse error (Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '|', expected variable (T_VARIABLE)) and can no longer reach my WP site.

I received an email that the pwforo plugin is causing this error. I've seen users solve the problem here, but when I log into recovery mode I can't click anything without the error occurring again.

I understood from the other post that it has something to do with the PHP version.

What can I do?

Thanks

Hi @mbf,

You're using old version of PHP, we've just add some changes to avoid such issues with old PHP version. You can try to update again.

@mbf,

Please update the wpForo again, it'll work for sure, the core has been updated for old 7.x versions as well.

Hello,

I'm getting the same error.

plugin running on 2.2.4,

PHP version is 7.4.33

We've tried to update site php to 3 separate 8.+ versions with no effect as while doing so, other plugins show errors (including woffice plugin / theme errors), please advise? thanks

@itsupport That is strange, with php 8.+ there should not be any such issue.
