Hi guys,

I'm hosted on Pantheon who are a fantastic host with great workflows and superb performance.  I don't work for them - just love the platform!

WPForo is running painfully slow on their system however:  https://www.zaidcrowe.co.uk/community

Does any one have experience with this and how I may be able to tune things?

Impossible to understand what is wrong, since you use all kind of things like Cloudflace, Rocket Cache...

Is it wpForo slow or Wordpress script slow ? How do you know it is wpForo ? Also what happens when you disable wpForo ? The speed is back ?

In any case, you should enable Wordpress DEBUG to a log and check for errors.

If it is clear, then disable plugins you have and check. If the problem is gone, enable them one by one.

Also you could install

https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/

and see possible slowdowns.

Thanks for the reply Massimo, I wouldn't say impossible but I can appreciate they are clouding anyones ability to help.

Let me clarify:

  • Cloudflare caching is actually disabled for /community*, for this route it's just the DNS provider.  If I disable cloudflare for the rest of the site performance is still very high, with a noticeable decline when using anything on the /community rout
  • Rocketloader essentially differs as much javascript loading and execution as possible in the front end of the site so has no negative impact I can see, disabling makes no difference to load time on /community
  • WPForo hasn't impacted the overall speed of my site at all, it's just the /community* stuff - if you surf around a few pages you'll see the performance difference!

I'll get a staging site set up to install query monitor - thanks for the tip.

Hi zaidcrowe,

Please read this topic. Here is the list of points we recommend to check:

@zaidcrowe

The slow performance on your site is also in other places, like the BLOG.

Still, i stick to my original post. The steps are clear, no way to debug this when using caching, cloudflare, rocket, minifiers etc etc.

Debug log also helps sometimes.

As see the same as mentioned Anonymous20. All pages of your website are very slow. This is not wpForo issue. I think you have a multiple redirection issue. First I'd suggest add trailing slash to your permalink structure in Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks admin page:

Also, I'd recommend deactivate all plugins, enable those one by one and check after each activation website speed.
