The version of TinyMCE used by WordPress is quite outdated. Is there a way to upgrade to TinyMCE version 7 and make it compatible with wpForo?

Hi @xfok,

We’ll take this into consideration. First, we need to ensure that the new versions of TinyMCE are still free, and then we need to check if they are compatible with all of our addons.

Additionally, there are many WordPress plugins that add new buttons and features to the wpForo editor, so if we update it, we risk losing compatibility with those plugins.

Therefore, this needs to be investigated very carefully.

@Robert

Thank you very much. The Self-hosted version ( https://www.tiny.cloud/get-tiny/ ) is the classic free one without any cost. Initially, you might consider applying backward compatibility so that the user can choose in the WpForo options to use either the TinyMCE from the WordPress core or the latest version available from the WpForo core.

I hope it will be implemented in a future update. 😀
