I need to change the (@name) nickname in the forum because it has the name of an employee who is no longer with us, but I need to use this account as the Forum Administrator.
I'm going to Forums > Members > Edit Profile
It takes me to the frontend profile page (I think that's what you would call it)
I fill out all of the Information (because it's requiring me to do so)
and it says "user already exists.
Please Help.

This is right it should go to users Account page (frontend).

Please note nicename should be a unique name. It is used in WordPress and wpForo core to generate user Profile URL. Please try to insert another username, that no longer exists on your website.
