A user posted her first post with an arttachment but was later blocked from viewing that attachment. fwiw this only happens if she is logged in, otherwise there seems to be no restriction - yet I want block all UNLESS logged in and then no restriction. I have messed around with new user restriction etc but I want no restrictions at all as long as the user is logged in.
I am tempted to go back to bbPress, more basic but less complicated.

We didn’t quite understand your question — could you please rephrase it?
If you're trying to restrict access for guests, you simply need to edit each forum and set the "No Access" permission for the Guests usergroup.

To clarify - I want no access restriction for anyone since only trusted members will access the forum at all
You should assign the Standard Forum Access to the usergroups first. Then, edit that access and configure the permissions as needed.
