Dear Team,

is there any way to create an automatic role management based on the number of post published?

Example:

  1. User register to the form and his status is Newbie (number of post 0 = Newbie)
  2. User with the role "Newbie" has the right to post only in a specific area, but the post has to be approved.
  3. Once a moderator approve the post the user has the first post published
  4. If the number of post is equal to 1 or more his status will be automatically changed in Registered with the right to post anywhere.

Thank you in advance for your help on this.

Best,

Andy

Hi @andyteslaro,

wpForo has a new user control feature.

There is a "User is New (under hard spam control) during first X posts" option. Let's consider the following example.

The value of the "User is New (under hard spam control) during first X posts" option is set 5 and the "Posts must be manually approved" option is enabled. In this case after the first 5 posts which have been manually approved (by forum high-level users, admin, moderators, etc.) the user is not being considered a new member anymore.

Hi there ... interesting concern.

@sofy But according to @andyteslaro he's asking a dinamic user role kinda like an automatic promotion in function of user's post number so that reserved areas are unlocked to promoted user.

I'm seeing in wpforo a rating level for member reputation ... would it be possible to associate with this an active "promotion" and not just a badge?

@teslariit @sofy @robert

yes this is exactly what I need. I think this is an important feature (I know that in vbulletin is possible). We should link the number of post not only to badges but also to the type of user (roles). Is that possible? Could you please help?

Really appreciated. 🙂

Andy

@andyteslaro

I'm really sorry, but currently, you should change the role of the user manually. If you worry about some spam post as was mentioned here wpForo has a powerful spam control features.

@sofy

Thank you for your reply. Actually I was aware of wpForo anti-spam features and we have enabled them time ago. Unfortunately, we are still experiencing spam issues. I think the feature I've requested is really important not only for adding an extra layer of security but also for automatic promotion functionalities.

@robert I hope you will consider adding this new functionality in a future update of wpForo 😉, as I mentioned this is something already implemented long time ago by vBulletin.

Thank you for all your hard work.

Best,

Andrea
