I have seen several posts already on this topic but could not see any that solved our issue.  All our users are now anonymous for some reason.   We tried to clear all cache and the other tools.   All users are registered and assigned to the appropriate user group from what we can tell.

Hi @kevlew,

Please read this support topic:

https://wpforo.com/community/how-to-and-troubleshooting-2/being-hit-by-spam-bots-posting-as-anonymous/paged/2/#post-11710

Also, I'd suggest you deactivate all antispam plugins and check again.

@sofy, that support topic is not relevant to our situation. These were posts made by users with usernames and they are no longer displaying correctly. They show as anonymous despite being made by legit users.

Hi @akyeame,

You should deactivate the plugins one by one and check after each deactivation to find the problem maker one. The wpForo plugin doesn't have such an issue.

I deactivated all plugins, cleared all caches.......but still no good.  Something is seriously wrong.  Seems posts from 2013 to 2019 as of today are all gone?

seems like wpforo is only showing user names for any post that happened 6 years ago.......all after that are anonymous and not being counted.

@kevlew,

Please let us know have you migrated wpForo from another forum?

We migrated originally from vBulletin at the end of 2017. Issues just cropped up in the last month or two.

Something drastically happened to all our posts from 2013-2019.  That is about 190,000 posts.  Gone. All registered users are now anonymous and posts say 49 years ago.  The member count, topic counts didn’t change..just the posts are gone.  We have emailed and opened a ticket to follow proper protocol but so far no response or assistance on this issue.  I see that several others are having similar issues.  We have a staging site that we only had wpforo active and still no posts. We have an old back up that has the dB wpforo tables Sql but need assistance restoring.

I don't think wpForo has any problem here. If wpForo can't show users data and dates then you have problem with database data. Your database is crashed or you've made some incorrect manipulation with users data. This needs to be investigating in database. If you have a backup file, just restore it.

 I see this issue has been applicable to more than just our site.  Something is happening.  We did not manipulate our database.  A user brought this to our attention.  We attempted to restore using an archived database but the posts remain anonymous and say from 50 years ago.   We hired a developer to look into it.  No progress.  We need assistance from a wpforo developer on what we can do to restore our forum.    We had over 200k posts........now we are down to 174k.  in that 174k the posts are there in phpmyadmin but on  the site not showing even though the topic is there.   When you click on the topic the post is blank.

This is database issue for sure, it doesn't mean how many people have such issue. All who have this issue have done some incorrect thing in database and deleted users or topics. in your case almost all profiles were removed and posts table was not complete. 90% of posts were lost from database.

I'm not sure if your restore of backup is complete restoration so contact to our developers again and let them investigate your database. Provide access to database tables and dashboard.
