Hi there,

Have successfully installed wpforo and set up the forum with no issues. However, while testing the forum I note users (guests or anyone with access to the page) can post new topics without registering.

In the wpforo settings... 1. user registration is enabled, 2. guests have to register before posting 3. enable user registration email confirmation is enabled

In the wp admin settings... 1. anyone can register is not checked.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

You should check the wpForo forums permission settings in the Forum ADD/Edit screen. Edit the forum and use these settings to control Usergroup accesses and privileges in that forum. Each Usergroup has some Forum Access set in each forum. For example The Registered Usergroup ( Subscriber User Role) has Standard Forum Access by default in all forums.

@sofy Thank you. Yes, I've made those modifications but it still doesn't work. Anyone can still access the forum and post a topic. Am trying to assess if a feature is not enabled or there is a bug somewhere that's allowing guests to see, access and post at their will. The usergroups page is also locked and I can't make edits even though I'm the admin. I posted the picture below.

Thanks for the reply, the issue looks kind of obvious now but I still can't fix the problem.See attached picture.

  1. The "guest" usergroup is locked but I can't delete its user role.
  2. I also can't edit the Registered usergroup either.  This means I can't assign the group a role not make it as default.
  3. I also have two moderators for some reason. I can't delete the second one.
  4. One of the moderator groups is set to default. I can't change that either.
  5. I have admin access.

I don't know why this has occurred. Is there anyway to reset the usergroup settings?

Hope you can help!
