I found this and have to say; that is my problem after re-installing wpforo.

If I match the site permalink where the short-code is with the base URL as I am supposed to (as far as I understand) then the forum disappears on the front-end.
If I enter any other base URL for wpforo (the page with the forum is still the same!) it can even be a made up one, that doesn't even exist, then I can see the forum on my created page - under the right permalink.
But when I want to open one of the (sub-)forums I get redirecet to wrong pages.
WIth the wrong base URL that makes sense to me, but WHY does the forum disappear from the frontend when th page permalink and the base URL in wpforo are the same?
I am really lost here 🙁

Please never set the main wpForo page as home page. you should create a new page (e.g.: /home/ slug) with [wpforo] shortcode and set it as home page. The main wpForo page (Forums) should be free. Please read attentive the doc:

https://wpforo.com/docs/root/getting-started/forum-page/set-forum-on-home-page/

So I don't understand your answer or maybe we are talking past each other right now...

I don't want the forum page to be my home page!
(my homepage is "recent posts" and not a static site)
I just want it to be one of the pages of my website.
The shortcode I put on the page ..../forum/.
And now I don't know which URL I am supposed to put into the base URL field,
as everytime I use the forum URL the forum dissappears.
So it can't be right to use the forum URL. but if I use another one I can't use the sub forums because it just redirects me to a page that has nothing to do with the forum page....

maybe now you can help me?

All is in one website. Why you think you should have two websites?

All is described clear. You should have two pages.  My Home and Forums. The wpForo base URL is the Forums slug. The My Home page should be set as front page in Dashboard > Settings > Reading admin page.
