Google doesn't penalize anyone with good and unique content. Even when you break rules, it depends on your whole site how google "sees" that problem. See big players that break all the rules and get away with it.

Also keep in mind that we BUILD sites (and forums) for PEOPLE and not for Search engines.

Thanks Robert, so, is it also possible to cross posting forum topics to blog posts? Do you mean auto-generate posts from forum topics?

@anonymous20 I could never have said it better! We have been working for years completely forgetting about SEO. Now that we have a good position is when we have started to worry a little more about it.

Thank you. I haven't done anything special from what I recall, but it's possible that my theme added it's own styling to it.

Hello I am about to create a new forum for my website which is on wordpress. I am hosting it on godaddy at the moment. 

Is your forum built with wpForo or some other plugin? A little insight would be great. In addition, your layout is something I haven't seen even on discourse. Have you built it yourself or using a pre-built layout?

I am trying to get the forum to the whole page[full width] but my theme's sidebar is appearing. It looks like it is part of my blog and not a forum page.

My site uses wpForo for the forum system, yes. If you compare it to this forum here at wpForo, it's pretty much the same except for changes in colors and some CSS tweaks. Outside of the forum, the rest is just typical WordPress stuff.
