I think wpForo just offers a "visual interface" for login/signup etc and Wordpress does all that. Email with the verification also.

Just tested it and seems to work just fine on my site.

Since this is a rather large forum, i would guess it is a Hosting problem. HostGator (EIG crap group) is not the best option out there (to be polite)....

This has nothing to do with wpForo. All registrations and emails are handled by Wordpress. No one Registers to the Forums, they register to Wordpress ...

I haven't found yet any better/free and responsive theme, that works with anything.

@joel If you are not using ANY plugin for email, you could give this a shot. And let us know if this solved or improves your problem.
