Do I need reCAPTCHA if people have to register and then activate account via a link in their mailbox? I mean, is it possible for bots to register and then activate an email sent to them?
And what versions of reCAPTCHA works with WPForo? I tried to install version 3, but seems like it does not work?

Please note: user registration and account creation is a part of WordPress core. wpForo only provides a registration form. This is not wpForo part, this is the WordPress part.
wpForo will care about spam posting and help a little in user registration protection with builtin reCAPTCHA. Please use the key type for reCaptcha v2 (not v3).

I think yes, you should enable it.

Probably yes, In any case, you can use some antispam plugins.
For an advanced Spam Control we recommend to install Akismet antispam plugin, it works well with wpForo Spam Control system. Akismet is already integrated with wpForo.
