I ditched WPforo on one of my projects in favor of PeepSo, and I've been regretting it ever since. Â The bells & whistles are nice, but the plugin has been problematic and buggy from day one - a constant, painful reminder of the fact that WPforo was a rock-solid solution that I should not have replaced lol.
That being said, I would also be very interested in seeing what kind of integration is possible with these two plugins complimenting each other. Â The thought of WPf's performance and stability combined with PS's features and polish brings endless possibilities to mind!
I've just re-enabled Ultimate Member as I discovered a bug with TML that prevented logins and registrations from working. I need to have far greater control over the login and registration process because of the impending GDPR regulation, and UM handles this perfectly - out of the box in fact.
I tried PeepSo before, but didn't like it that much. I've also just contacted the devs over at UM to see if they will entertain integration with WpForo. If they don't, they are missing out 🙂
After spending (wasting) a couple of solid days playing with PeepSo, I have stepped away. I was starting to have trouble with updating and activating plugins on my website and removing PeepSo cleared everything up. The ajax calls against the server are ridiculous -- about 500 every 30 seconds just for PeepSo alone, and it wasn't even being used by users yet!
So now I'm looking for something maybe a bit more basic. UserPro seems interesting.
I've played with Ultimate Member before and it truly is very nice. However, I noticed that their next version has been promised for months and it seems stagnant. And that scares me.
Oh, interesting. I'll take another look. Thank you! 🙂
Hmmm, it's still a manual update if you want 2.0. I installed from the WP repository and got 1.3.8 or something like that. When I looked into updating to 2.0, I found that only some of the extensions are available for 2.0. Looking at the blog section of the UM website, it looks like 2.0 was announced in May 2017, an updated announcement in November 2017, and nothing since. I hope I am wrong in feeling like it is stagnant.
