For what its worth, I was also unable to save a new system wide cover image as well. I ended up having to just replace the physical file on the server.
My users, and myself as an admin, are also unable to save cover images within in our profiles too.

The problem is fixed.
Please wait for the wpForo 2.0.7 version, it comes soon. This bag is fixed in that version.
