Why am I seeing different limitations on filesize between basic WPForo and Advanced Attachments plugin? I shouldn't be getting a larger file size on WPForo basic!  Can someone explain?

@garylue,

First of all please see the difference between MB and KB.

1MB - > 1000KB

More info here: https://castingcollective.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/143461-what-s-the-difference-between-kb-and-mb

Then please note you can change both of size. If you want to increase server parameters in the wpForo please contact to your hosting service support and let them know about it. More info here: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/wpforo-settings/topic-post-settings/#max-file-size

And to change it for wpForo Advanced Attachments add-on, just go to the Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Addons > Attachments admin page, find "Maximum File Size" and change it.

Thank you Alvina.
I understand the difference between MB and KB.

I have raised the max upload size in WP Foro to 800 MB.
I cannot raise the max upload size in Advanced Attachments to more than 64MB.

See attached screenshot

@garylue,

Your maximum value is 64M. It's limit of your server. Your server PHP configuration doesn't allow you to increase it more than 64M. This is not wpForo configuration issue, this is your server limit.

Please contact to your hosting service support and ask them increase these two values:

  • upload_max_filesize = 800M
  • post_max_size = 800M

Or read this tutorial:

Thank you for your reply. I am curious that if the server limit is 64 mb, why am I allowed 800 mb in the base WPForo but not Advanced Attachments?

@garylue,

Please note the server size is the same in each place. Just in one place, it set via KB, in the second place is via MB, thus the values are different.

Thank you for your reply. I am curious that if the server limit is 64 mb, why am I allowed 800 mb in the base WPForo but not Advanced Attachments?

The wpForo Advanced Attachments designed to work in the following way. It doesn't allow to set the value high then the server limit. Even if you increase the values, the server doesn't allow you to upload the file highest then the server size.
However, the default wpForo didn't configure in this way. So you can set the value highest then the server value, but you can't upload the file highest then the server size, in this case too. Also as you can see in the screenshot provided below, it says "You can not set this value more than "upload_max_filesize" and "post_max_size". If you want to increase server parameters please contact your hosting service support."

So please contact your hosting service support and ask them to increase these values.
