My forum is new and and currently more focused on building audience, creating much content and getting the forum popular than getting users to register.

So I am wondering if it is possible to make the registration form bear only username and password field. No email required let alone verification. That way, I can get more users on board to create the much needed contents in my forum at this initial stage.

People tends to be reluctant to give out their emails especially for a relatively unknown forums like mine. I want to remove as much friction as possible

Later on, I will then give them option to verify their account.

Do you guys think this my method of getting initial content is good? What advice do you have for me?

Who has a solution for me please? How do I go about that?

Thanks for reading through

Hi @synergy,

You can make the registration one step by disabling the "Enable User Registration email confirmation" option in Dashboard> Forums > Settings > Features admin page. The email field will not be removed but the registration will not require email confirmation and password reset steps. You'll see password fields on the registration form.

I also recommend enable the reCAPTCHA antispam protection in this case. The reCAPTCHA can be configured and enabled in Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Antispam Tab:
