Hi,  I am a new user of wpforo (vs 2.3.3) with a new Godaddy wordpress site.

I am having a lot of difficulty getting this set up to work.

In Particular, the registration process for new users doesn't seem to send out an email.

Also things like icons and check boxes aren't showing up.  See attached jpg file.

As a new user, I am totally clueless as to what I am doing.

If anyone can help, please keep this in mind as I will need concise, step by step instructions to make this work.

Thanks.

Also, the add topic button does nothing.

Hi, about the email issue: wpForo itself doensn't send any emails out. This is Wordpress core doing that.

So debug this using an smtp (out email) plugin, with logging.

You will install a smtp plugin, set it up, and then monitor the logs to see where the issue is.

@dimalifragis, that's all very fine however, step #3 in the link you sent me states as follows:

"Make sure your server email sender works well. Make sure you receive emails from your WordPress (on registration or on other cases...). You can check it in Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Debug > Errors & issues admin page. If the mail function doesn't work you'll see an error notification."

When I try to go to Dashboard > Forums  There is NO TOOLS MENU ITEM!

It just says "All Forums" and "Add New"

@dimalifragis Ah,  then the link is wrong.

It should read "Dashboard > wpForo > Tools > Debug > Errors & issues"

So now that I see the error,  it says:

"WordPress Email sending function wp_mail() doesn't work!"

I am looking at the suggested article: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-wordpress-not-sending-email-issue/

But I am lost.  HELP!

You know I purchased this site and it gave me 5 Office 365 email addresses.  How the h**l do I use one of them?

@lga-softworks,

1. Contact to the hosting and ask them fix the email sending issue, this is probably disabled in PHP configuration.

2. Or just configure SMTP for your WordPress. Here are great plugins: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/smtp/

Enable email logs with SMTP plugin and see the problems better: https://wpforms.com/how-to-set-up-wordpress-email-logs/

@robert Thanks for your advice.  I tried installing an smtp plugin but that messed up my contact page being able to send me emails.

I have the wpForo plugin working ok without sending a confirmation email out for new users when they register and now my contact page works properly.

When I do activate the confirmation email setting, instead of sending the email to the new user, it is sending it to my email instead.  This I need to fix up.  Any suggestions.

@lga-softworks Again: ALL EMAIL is handled by Wordpress and NOT from wpForo. wpForo Queues the emails to Wordpress core.

This is not an issue of wpForo. Also an smtp plugin can't "mess" (as you say) anything. I would suggest to spend sometime to get familiar with Wordpress script.

@lga-softworks,

The emails you see are sent by WordPress. Admins get emails when a new user is registered. It's correct and it's the default WordPress behaviour. You can disable the emails which are send to admins when a new user is registered using this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LD9Loa0nCY

wpForo has it's own option which tries to disable this email as well. But you should try both. The wpForo option is located in wpForo > Settings > Email Settings. The option name is " New User Registration Email for Administrators".

Disable wpForo and use the WordPress native registration form to test. The native registration form can be found with this URL. Make sure you're logged out, this URL is only available for guests:

yourdomain.com/wp-login.php?action=register

As an alternative solution you can disable the registration with email confirmation and make it one step: https://wpforo.com/docs/wpforo-v2/settings/login-registration/#enable-user-registration-email-confirmation
