I would like to create a support forum wherein only the admin (and/or moderators) and discussion starter can see discussions, in other words a forum access option called "Can view own topic". The "Can set own topic private" is very similar except that it requires attentive members. Is there a present workaround?
On another topic: is there a suggestion forum?

You should ask all users to create private topics to get such a result.
