Hi,
A coupld of questions regarding the plugin please:
1.Can it be used as a closed, administered site, so that we can take down any inappropriate posts if we ever have to?
2. Can we add all the users manually, as we only have a few of them.

All the posts can be controlled by from wpForo > Moderation admin page.
2. Can we add all the users manually, as we only have a few of them?
You can disable Website and Forum registration and add users manually.
wpForo Reg setting is located at wpForo > Settings > Login & Registration: Enable User Registration
