I plan to add groups, many of them. I need to figure out a smooth transition of how to move members to different groups when needed.

I understand the structure fine. Primary and secondary.

1. What would be the best way to get people to join a group? Would they send a request? I will have a moderator over each group.

2. Would I maybe do a link to a contact form?

I am just trying to get an idea of how to do this in the simplest way for the end user.

Any ideas and input would be appreciated.

Hi,

You cannot invite the user to join the usergroup. You can just change the usergroup manually.

Sans an automatic method;
create a group opt in forum, create opt in topics for each group, admin/mods subscribe to those topics, when some replies with an "opt in" post, go to their profile and add them to the relevant group.

*Make sure the "Group opt in forum permissions are set to "can reply" only - zero topic creation rights for non authorised members/staff.
