Since the last update, i have a problem with the hidden forum / widget recent topic.
All appers in the widgets (i dont filters forum in the widget, because as admin i want to see all topic, and a simple user need to see topics who is concern).
i have attach an exemple, when you go to the forum with no account (all the forum is hidden, but you have the widgets). If you clik on topic on right, you have a message that forbidden.
if you have a solution 🙂

Probably you've done wrong configuration. Please make sure you set Forum Permissions correctly. It seems you've set the right Forum Permissions on Parent category, but not the forum itself.
Also please don't forget to delete all caches before checking:
1. Navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Dashboard admin page, click on [Delete all cahches]
2. If you use some cache plugins, delete this plugins caches as well
Delete the browser caches (press twice CTRL+F5 on the forum page) as well.
I have already do this, but the problems stay. I have check the forum permissions
The forum permissions were the same since 1 year. I dont change anything. And i have this problem only since the 1.6 or 1.6.1
The is not a configuration problem with the news feature in the widgets ?
I have no filter by forum or anything. (you can see on agp-wow.fr you can see recent Post on bottom right, but cant acces)
And the widget have no problems for recent topic (forum permssion works, admin can see ell recent topic, if you ar not conected, you have no widget etc...)

We just have to follow the steps in the latest forum update, since template files were modified:

Try this again, too:
Edit the Category - (Parent Forum - Blue Bar)
Then make sure your Forum Permission for Guests is "No Access".
Then click "Update"
On the Front end of your site, Press Control+F5.

@migath is right. I did raise a bug report about it in in the 1.6.1 update topic.
If the "Autofilter by current forum" option is enabled for the recent posts widget they are listed even for restricted access forums. Sure, a no permission notice is up top and if a guest tries to click on a post link in the widget it will result in a 404 but, the posts should not be displayed in the widget in the first place. Strangely the problem does not exist (at least for me) with the recent topics widget.
Actually, the way restricted access is handled a needs drastic overhaul. Guests and non privileged members occasionally find a link by some means to a restricted forum, topic or post, they should NOT receive a 404 or a no permission message at all, they should be redirected to the forum homepage automatically.
We know, that the post should not be displayed. It's obvious. But we don't see such problem in our test websites. We'll continue checking this. I think this is a cache issue caused by other plugins.
Hi @Migath and @verek I was testing the "Recent Topics" from the Top Forum Menu since the location of the "Recent Topics" Widget was in the very bottom of my forum, so my team and I didn't get to test that right away, except for today. So now I understand what you have seen.
I have also created a Bug Report on the link below, with a "possible solution" but I believe the wpForo Support Team and @Robert will be in the best position to decide whether that "code change" will be good or safe to use, without breaking anything else in the forum's code. 🙂
It seems the issue depends on specific widget configuration. Thank you for the information and bug report, we'll check this for sure.
Hi, I wondered if there was an update on this....i have the same problem. The Recent Topics widget works fine but the Recent Posts displays all posts even with automatic filtering enabled. Thanks
