I want users on my site to fill out their date of births while registering because I don't want to allow individuals who are under 18 on my site. Is this possible with the free version of WpForo? If not, is it possible with a WpForo addon? If so, which add on? If no, can you guys recommend an addon?

Hi @therealblatino

You can use >> wpForo - User Custom Fields to add a new field to the registration form

Or take a look at the >> Age Verification plugins

Thank you! I'm about to purchase it right now and install it. In the meantime, can you tell me how to find this option so I won't have to look for it?

You can use the date field for the birthday

@tutrix Okay, I think I got it. One question. In the description box, I typed, "you must be 18 or older to sign up". Is that all I have to do where users under 18 won't be able to sign up? I assumed I would have to check a box somewhere that says restrict users under 18.

You wanted a field to enter the date of birth.
This is just a field, nothing more.
Even a 5 year old child can enter that he is 50 years old.
or over the age of 18 or whatever your question is now.
So anyone can register.

If you want more security, you need "real" age verification, not just something to click on.

@tutrix Sorry! I didn't mean to make you frustrated. I'm new to all of this and I just assumed it would give me an option to restrict users who input certain dates. For example, if a user input a date that says they're 15, the sign up would fail. But I understand now.

One more question. I'm having a problem getting "passwords" to the inactive fields, so I can drag it on top of the registration form. I want my users to be able to set their passwords on the registration form. Even when I edit password and click on "set", it will not pop up on the inactive list on the register form. Can you help me fix this?

Every "light blue" field is under inactive fields on the register form except for "password".

Please note all questions related to paid addons should be asked in the gVectors.com forum. Here we only support issues related to the free wpForo plugin.

@sofy I understand, sorry. I have another final question. My question is regarding the free wpForo plugin. I would like to remove the "activity" feature on my users profile to give them a bit more privacy. How can I do this?

@therealblatino,

Please read Martin's answer here: https://wpforo.com/community/how-to-and-troubleshooting-2/i-dont-want-site-visitor-to-access-the-members-list-or-any-member-profile/#post-40494

I'd also recomend you read this FAQ: https://wpforo.com/community/faq/wordpress-user-roles-wpforo-usergroups-and-forum-accesses/#post-39664

It provides a lot of useful information on wpForo Usergroups and Forum Accesses.

https://wpforo.com/docs/wpforo-v2/settings/login-registration/

Enable User Registration email confirmation

If you have enabled this option, after registering, users can not login without confirming the email. They should click the link in the confirmation email, then set their account password, and then they’ll be able to login. If this option is disabled, the “Password” field will be displayed on the registration form.

Fake emails are welcome 😀
